We met another couple at Parrot Island on a Tuesday for an early dinner & spent a couple of hours. The place had tons of people having a great time! We ordered a blackened shrimp wrap & coleslaw (instead of rice & beans); a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw; chicken fettuccini w sides & catfish & shrimp platter. The food was very good, waitress was excellent & the music was great! Had a great time & continued the fun conversation at our place. I highly recommend Parrot Island Grill
From the outside this place looks like nothing special. DON'T let looks deceive you. The food is INCREDIBLE!! The service is fast and friendly. The fried Catfish platter was incredibly delicious. A very light crispy batter with huge, perfectly cooked fish. For desert we had the best Blueberry Cheesecake I've ever eaten served in a very upscale manner. RUN, don't walk to this extraordinary restaurant!!
The food was awesome! The server was awesome! However, I ordered the Catch of the Day (Snapper) without asking the price. Shame on me! Keep in mind, I passed the board coming inside that the special was salmon at $24.95. When I saw the bill with the Catch of the day at $46, I about choked! This place was great but I do think they should have warned me of the price.
A random stop in turned into a great lunch. We were in town for just a mine to check out the lake Okeechobee dyke, when my car battery died. so after dropping off the car at a shop we stopped into a nearby restaurant, in part because it seemed popular. We had drove by earlier and it was packed. We got a spot outside in a booth and after some waters and a drink order went over the menu. My choice was obvious, the French dip burger. I'm always a sucker for a French dip, but dipping a burger in au jus sounded succulent. Our server was back after our food order quickly with drinks. I had a simple run and coke and the it was perfect. There was a nice one man band playing in the corner outside. It was a bit loud for the moment, but it was good. the food came out and our friends had gotten some hush puppies too. They were legit good. They were pulled out of the fryer at the perfect time. meanwhile my burger was perfect. medium rare, extra pickles and extra au jus. We all agreed it was a great spot, and there was an obvious reason why it was packed when we drove by earlier. If you are in town, this is a great spot to stop into.
We went for a Sunday lunch while visiting the area. The food was excellent, but it was served luke-warm. They were extremely busy so I didn't bring it to our server's (Kathy) attention, but if it had been less busy I would have. We ordered the Mahi Mahi dinner with okra, and waffle fries and the Blackened Catfish with mashed potatoes. Everything was flavorful and the fish was cooked perfectly. The quantity was sufficient to warrant "take home" containers, and reheated the next day, we enjoyed the food more at the right temperature. We would definitely go back if we are ever in the area again.
